Puppy & Kitten Visits

Adding a puppy or kitten to your family is an exciting time! It is important to get started early with recommended preventative care including exams, vaccinations and parasite control. We will work together as a team to develop socialization, nutrition, behavior and enrichment programs to build a foundation for a healthy life.

Preventative Care

We all want our pets to live their longest, healthiest lives. Routine preventative care is the best way to achieve that. We will develop an individualized treatment plan including vaccinations, flea and tick control and heartworm prevention to help your furry friend live their best life!

Pet Microchipping

Microchips are one of the best ways to reunite lost pets with their families. When a pet is found and brought to an animal shelter or veterinary clinic, they will scan the animal for a microchip. If they find a chip and the registry has current information, they can quickly find the pet’s owner. While a collar can fall off, a microchip is a safe, inexpensive and permanent method of identification. The microchip is injected under the skin and can be done during a routine house call.

Diagnostic Services

Mt. Pleasant House Call Vet has the ability to diagnose many ear and skin issues while in your home, and we partner with Antech Diagnostic Laboratory when more extensive testing is appropriate. These can include Felv/FIV testing, heartworm tests, bloodwork, urinalysis, fecal testing and cytology.

Dermatology

While we all enjoy being outdoors year-round in the Lowcountry, allergy issues are common because of our climate. Fleas, pollen and food allergies can cause itchiness, inflammation of the skin and ear infections. Mt. Pleasant House Call Vet offers a variety of treatment options including topical therapy, oral supplements and medication, immunotherapy and prescription diets to help you and your pet find relief.

Senior Care

It’s important to stay active as we get older, and that goes for our pets as well. Senior wellness exams are recommended twice per year to stay on top of changes to your pet’s health and treat issues before they become serious. Arthritis, mobility issues and metabolic diseases are common challenges affecting senior pets. Through diagnostic testing, Dr. Turick can provide appropriate medical therapy, nutritional counseling and pain management.

Pain Management

Dr. Turick believes that your pets deserve to be pain-free. Whether your pet suffers from an acute injury, post-operative pain or chronic conditions such as arthritis, we utilize a multimodal approach using a variety of techniques. We will create a customized pain management plan drawing from supplements, oral medication such as anti-inflammatories and pain relievers, physiotherapy, massage, myofascial therapy and electromagnetic therapy.

Prescriptions

Mt. Pleasant House Call Vet can prescribe and dispense appropriate medication to established clients and patients who have been examined within the last 12 months.

For our clients’ safety and convenience, we have partnered with Vetsource Online Pharmacy to provide flea & tick control, heartworm prevention, medications, supplements, pet foods and prescription diets. They are a reliable, trustworthy source for pet supplies and support local veterinarians.

If you would prefer to shop elsewhere, we would be happy to provide you with a written prescription.

Telemedicine consultations

While not a substitute for an in-person exam, telemedicine or “virtual visits” are a convenient way to get general advice, consultations and follow-ups between appointments. They can be useful for behavioral concerns, nutritional advice and quality of life assessments. We can schedule virtual visits over Zoom or Facetime or reply to your text or email during business hours.

*By law, we can only prescribe medication to established patients who have been examined within the last 12 months.

In-home euthanasia allows your pet to pass peacefully in a familiar environment, surrounded by loved ones. Dr. Turick will ensure the process is performed in a gentle, dignified manner.

We partner with Pet Rest for cremation services.

“I would give more than 5 stars if I could. Our dog PJ is 15 1/2, in his twilight years, and terrified of going to the vet. Dr. Turick came in, he was immediately comfortable with her and the whole visit was stress free and a success! Dr. Turick met me on my lunch hour, was prompt, prepared, experienced, and I’m so happy with my decision to try her out! Highly recommend!”
